Start Here and grow.

Most fencers begin with our structured classes. From there, they build skills, gain experience, and decide how far they want to take it.

How Training at Skyward Works

At Skyward Fencing, training follows a natural progression.

Most students begin with beginner and intermediate classes, where they learn the fundamentals of footwork, bladework, and fencing strategy.

As they improve, many choose to continue training through membership and private lessons, giving them more opportunities to practice, compete, and develop at a higher level.

There’s no pressure to move faster than you’re ready for—but the path is always there if you want it.

What Comes Next

As fencers build their foundation through classes, many choose to continue training through membership and private lessons.

Membership & Open Fencing

As fencers develop, many choose to continue their training through membership.

Membership provides access to:

  • open fencing sessions

  • consistent training opportunities

  • a community of fencers across different levels

This is where fencers begin to apply what they’ve learned in class through regular practice and bouts.

Private Lessons

Private lessons provide focused, one-on-one coaching tailored to each fencer.

They are the most effective way to accelerate improvement and are commonly used by fencers who want to refine technique, build consistency, or prepare for competition.

Lessons often become part of a regular training routine as fencers continue to develop.

Private Events & Group Experience

We offer private fencing sessions for birthdays, corporate events, and group experiences.

These sessions are designed to be structured, engaging, and accessible—no experience required. Participants learn the basics of fencing and get hands-on time on strip in a guided environment.

Events can be customized based on group size, age, and goals.

Competition Opportunities

For those interested, Skyward supports fencers in local, regional, and national competitions.

Competition is never required—but it is available for fencers who want to test themselves and continue progressing.

Start with a Complimentary Class

The best way to get started is simple—step on strip and try it.

We offer complimentary group classes so you can experience training at Skyward before committing.
